DEF: Milli Vanilli “Blame It On The Rain”

Pop music act Milli Vanilli may be a running joke since the revelation that they did not sing the songs for which they are credited. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that they hit the Top 5 with all five of their singles that charted on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. Of those five singles, the middle three all went to number one.

Exactly 25 years ago today, Milli Vanilli reached number one with their third chart-topping single, “Blame It On The Rain,” which would spend two weeks at the top spot. Perhaps more significantly, when this single followed Bad English’s “When I See You Smile” atop the chart, it meant that prolific songwriter Diane Warren had knocked herself out of number one.

Marking the anniversary, “Blame It On The Rain” is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
