DEF: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts “I Love Rock ‘N Roll”

Pennsylvania-born musician Joan Jett has placed ten songs on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, mostly with her band The Blackhearts. Of those ten songs, all but one have hit the Top 40, and three have reached the Top 10. Amid all of that success, Jett and her band’s biggest hit is their first charting single, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll,” a remake of a song originally written and recorded in 1975 by The Arrows. Exactly 35 years ago, “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” climbed to a number one for a seven-week run at the top, making it one of the 1980s’ biggest hits.
