DEF: Jennifer Rush (Duet with Elton John) “Flames Of Paradise”

New York City-born singer Jennifer Rush first gained pop music recognition as the co-writer and original singer of the song “The Power Of Love.” Though renditions of the song by Laura Branigan and Celine Dion would reach the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, Rush’s original version stalled at a peak position of number 57. Rush did, though, reach the Top 40 in her only other Hot 100 appearance. On this date in 1987, Rush’s duet with Elton John titled “Flames of Paradise” climbed to a peak position of number 36, where it would spend one week.

“Flames of Paradise” by Jennifer Rush and duet partner Elton John is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
