DEF: Andy Fraser “Do You Love Me”

London-born musician Andy Fraser passed away last week at the age of 62. Fraser is best known as the bassist for the band Free and co-writer of Free’s biggest hit, “All Right Now,” which peaked at number 4 in 1970.

Fraser also, though, released a number of solo albums over the past four decades, and those albums spawned one single that appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. On this date in 1984, that single — a remake of the Contours’ “Do You Love Me” — fell from a peak position of number 82 to number 88 in its second-to-last week on the chart.

In memory of Fraser, “Do You Love Me” is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
