In the early 1990s, West Virginia-born musician Michael W. Smith followed the likes of Amy Grant in crossing over from Contemporary Christian radio to the pop music chart. Smith’s crossover produced two Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, the first of which, “Place in This World,” reached the Top 10. Exactly 25 years ago, “Place in This World” by Michael W. Smith rose to a peak position of number 6.
